Our Mission

Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area's mission is to end and prevent homelessness for women and children with the help of trained mentoring groups within congregations.

This occurs through a three-way partnership which links a family with professionally trained Bridge of Hope social service staff and mentoring groups drawn from local church congregations.

Through this model, single mothers achieve permanent housing and financial self sufficiency through employment and attain stability and enhanced self esteem through ongoing mentoring friendships. Our goal is to exemplify Christ's love and to promote physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wholeness.

Bridge of Hope Harrisburg Area welcomes all women regardless of race, ethnicity or religion.

Special Thanks to all who participated in our April 2011 Fundraiser: STORIES OF HOPE

Through your attendance, sponsorship, donation, or purchase of an auction item; we raised ~$27,000.

During the event, one of our supported mother’s spoke:  At the age of 4, she witnessed her mother’s murder.  She was then forced to live with her abusive father.  Ultimately she ended up in jail:  once released she became pregnant and moved into a woman’s homeless shelter.  At this point, Bridge of Hope (BoH) stepped in and provided her with assistance.  BoH helped her find an apartment, paid the security deposit, and over 12 months helped her with rent in declining amounts to where she is now completely able to pay for the rent on her own.  With BoH assistance she has found a job, has a great network of friends through her church mentoring group, has a relationship with Christ, and has learned to earn and budget money successfully.  In June 2011 this mother successfully graduated from the program.

Another woman and her children saved.

CAN WE MAKE IT FIVE?

We currently support four families (a homeless mom and her children) and are looking to add a fifth by October 2011.  It takes ~$40/day to support a family.  Would you please consider helping us achieve this next goal?  Any amount will help us impact lives!
